I never could have accomplished what I have done so far without a little outside help. The goals I set for myself are often very challenging but the following three individuals have made those goals possible for me to attain. First off, my mother was the one who made sure that I would attend a good college. She was the one who always pushed me to work harder in my academics and to not procrastinate. Without these skills, I wouldn't be able to stay engaged and succeed as an engineer. Another crucial individual that helped me attain my goals is my father. He graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Program at the University of Arizona in 1982. He helped me get to where I am today in mathematics and inspires me to work hard for for goals if I truly want to attain them. He has helped me with my personal projects and showed how an precise the engineering process of building something must be. I credit my father to the experience I already have and the head start I have for a career as an engineer. One more person I have to thank for helping me reach my goals in college is my girlfriend Alex. I met her at the U of A Block Party on the third day of school. I couldn't accomplish my goals without the positive aurora she surrounds me with. She makes sure that I have a level mind so that I can complete all my school work and stay healthy. The happiness she gives me puts me one step closer to all my following goals in college.

My goal by the end of Freshman semester is to pass all my classes with at least a B average. The strengths that I have to achieve my goal are my dedicated work ethic and staying focused on my academics. The challenges I will have to face are balancing social life with school as well as maintaining a positive attitude throughout the semester. The steps I need to complete in order to achieve my goal are as follows:
Outside of the Engineering Building....Inside Cactus Grill....Think Tank at the Campus Rec Center....Campus Health Lobby....Highland Market....The stepping stone from high school to college can be very intimidating and overwhelming but there are many ways to overcome these challenges. First of all, it is very important to be on top of your academics as that should be your number one priority in college. I would advise introducing yourself to your professors on the first day of college. It is very important that you get to know your professors so that you can come for them for extra help. I would also highly advise attending Think Tank for at least a couple of hours per week. This has helped me a substantial amount thus far. It is very helpful having graduate students help you with difficult questions that are sure to unearth as the semester progresses. Many teachers will also post additional help such as practice problems to their websites so be sure to check those out! Another very helpful strategy I found effective to adjust to college life was study groups. It really helps to have people double checking your work and having the extra help. Utilizing all of these resources and truly putting in the work will grant a fun and successful freshman year. However college isn't solely about academics. It's also about growing up and meeting new people. A great way to do so is to join clubs or intermural sports. You can sign up for these online or sometimes clubs will set up tents on the UA mall. College is a great time to branch out and try new things. Just remember not to be shy because you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
